The type of zinc that the metal strippers use is a zinc phosphate wash, not electro galv or hot dip zinc. Zinc phosphate is the lead ingrediant in the stuff that you can buy at the autopaint store to prep metal. It provides minimal protection for a short period of time.
I've chemically stripped several cars, including the one on my webpage, and would never do it again. There is no way to get a protective coating back in every closed cavity (i.e., cowl boxes, frame rails, rockers etc...). There is a place near Detroit that will strip and apply EDM primer (like on new cars) but it's very pricey.
