The only way to properly remove the dash requires the speedo cluster come out to access hidden dash pad nuts, that means dropping the steering column to allow clearance for the cluster to come out. You might check into dying the dash rather than an adhesive paint. Be careful not to fill the grain if you paint. I'm sure the language can be intimidating of dropping a steering column and removing a speedo cluster but really it is very simple and only takes a couple minutes.
