I convinced my wife to reupholster one more set of 69 bucket seats. The pair on my sons car went as expected with no springs in the seat back just as aftermarket catalogs show. I ordered same materials as prior seat (Foam, etc) and upon removing the upholstery the seat back on my 69 the frame has springs. According to Ames and Classic catalogs, only the 67-68 seats have springs in the seat back. Headrests on both cars have November 1968 date codes and upholstery date code is 10/68 in my car. Seems to be the real deal.
Does anyone else have the version with springs in their 69? The reason I ask is that the aftermarket catalogs show a differnt part number for the seat foam for 68 and 69 based upon whether the frame has springs (68) or not (69). Pretty sure the 69 seat back foam will be too thick. Prefer not to open the box if it will not fit.
