I think it's why the 69 was nicknamed the 70 and a half. They kept shipping them because there were no 70s being made until well into 1970 ... But I could be wrong.
Otherway around. The 1st year model of the Second Generation F body is referred to as the 70-1/2 because they were 1st sold so late in the 1970 model year. Same reason why early 1st Gen Mustangs are called '64-1/2's when sales started in April 1964 as opposed to the "normal" start of the 1964 model year in September 1963.
