An engine build...cranks $100 to cut and polish(unless you can do that too), mains and rod bearings $150, clean/bore/hone $450(hone with a torq plate another $150-$200, balance $175, timing set $100...I could keep going but sufficed to say you might get it done a little cheaper by cutting corners but...or I guess you could buy an OReilly's short block for $10, I suppose.

I think you should buy it and restore it. It's too cheap not to but you're not going to do it for $5k.
