I have been to every parts store in town. Every time they pull up my make and model they try and sell me a 168 tooth flywheel, instead of one w/ 166 teeth. I am converting from an Auto to a Manual and the flywheel and starter are the last thing I need. My motor is a '73 pontiac 400 with a slightly upgraded cam, aluminum intake, and a Holley 4-barrel as the only real upgrades... So, I don't need a $400+ flywheel. The guy at NAPA told me I should try the 168 tooth flywheel his computer suggested and a regular starter set up for a 168 tooth flywheel. Will that work??? I figured I would ask the experts before I handed over the money and then had to deal with returning the parts when they don't work.
I also know that Ames carries the parts I need, but I would like to get out a little cheaper if I can. And it would be very frustrating to order from Ames and realize it is virtually the same stuff I could have gotten at any parts store.
