Depends on what you start with and what you want to end up with. $3,000-4,000 will put paint on a clean straight body. A car like Gus68's where he's goin all the way could take 300- 500 hours to get it to paint ($20,000 to $35,000 ). If your car just needs some minor work maybe just add 2-3,000.
