That's fair, everyone has their opinion but I think your opinion maybe formed based on what the media reported. Take Miami Drag race for example:
The blocked off a "residential area" road that was 4 lanes with a median and a speed limit of 30 mph. We have divided 4 lane roads up here as well but we call them highways.

He voluntarily told the police he had some prescription drugs, pot and some liquor in his system. I don't recall what the liquor was but if it was beer you might as well call it pop.
I think your lawyer would advise his client to keep his mouth shut and let the police figure hat he consumed.
