A lot of the damage is already done. Nobody wants empty ethanol plants sitting around. Ag land prices have reached an all-time high -$12,000/acre in my neighborhood. Some are still going as low as $10,000/acre but others as high as $15,000/acre. Taxes on ag land have almost tripled since we bought our farm 10 years ago - but I guess the land price tripled since then too.
So what happens now? Looks like they didn't think things through when they made those mandates.
