Take out the thermostat, tee in a garden hose at the heater hose, start it up then open the rad drain [censored]. let the water flush through the engine for a while. If that doesn't get it out put a jar of coolant wash in , run it for a while and then flush it out with the garden hose again.

Sounds like your Alt is working but you left out the battery charge wire. there should be a wire going from your Alt to the battery, usually from the buss junction at or near the horn relay to a block on the rad support in front of the battery. Try running a wire from where ever you have your junction to the positive post of the battery. The permanent install should have a fusible link in it to protect the battery.

I wired a hood tach for a friend and it did not work. Wired it the way someone on this site suggested [forget who] and it worked great. I'll try to find the post and get back.
