I heard it was to help clear brake boosters etc... Now ,just imagine the trouble for the guys in Australia that had to switch steering wheel side! now w 2" less to work with...
I measured this myself 3 yrs ago, because I had a friend asking me the same question as "Viking" asked his buddy...mine was also offset 1" - 1.5" to the right...(pass side)...I think I got the answer from the L list about the brake booster
BUT ,the offset is correct and is on all Birds ,not just the Swedish ones!
