I wouldn't worry about it. I don't recall any S on mine and I had mine on and off twice in the past year. If they look the same it should be okay. I mean it is just a piece of metal and if you didn't happen to see it when reassembling you would have never known the difference.
That being said, I would have wondered what the hell the S was too.
