The trouble with most of the charged shocks is they extend from the pressure of the gas in the body. Some so much as to aid the springs in the support of vehicle weight. I want the shocks to dampen and the springs to support the car. Some shocks have a large plastic strap to hold the piston in in the body until they are installed. Monroe sensa-trac are listed as a replacement for our cars but they are load supporting. Good if your springs are shot I suppose. They do make an OE replacement which I'm trying to track down. I just took off a set of KYBs and put them in the circular file.
