Hank, do you want to splice into the ignition wire or a wire that is switched 12 volts when the key is on? As stated above your ignition wire is not 12 volts, unless you've switched to an HEI. The pink/black is the ignition wire but it has a resistance dropping the voltage to 6-9 volts. The yellow wire from your starter to the ignition coil is 12 volts but only when the starter is engaged. There is a dark green idle solenoid wire that is 12 volts with the key on. There is a black/white idle stop wire that may be hot with the key on. I don't know if these solenoids are used on your car but the wires and connectors should be there.
