Summer of 2015 my status was this: the shop that did the dyno testing was convinced the CR was too high and taking it to them was worthless because the 'knew' the problem. The other shop wasn't capable of tuning carbs but had gotten my pulleys system all straightened out, and was really not excited about tuning a carb (and verbal about hating edelbrocks). At last, I was able to get into a local shop to have their expert look at it. Highly recommended for being the 'carb expert'. When I picked it up he hadn't really done much (changed accel pump hole and put in AFR gage) and said my timing was at 12 and 28 total. I knew this was low but being a newbie wasn't sure how he was getting those numbers when I was seeing something different with my timing light. He said it was still pinging but wasn't worried about it. I drove the car but still avoided WOT. It was a decent performer.
