Alternator failed and looking for suggestions on a new replacement. 1968 Firebird 400 (Original Motor), air conditioning. Should I just go purchase a new alternator from local Canadian Tire, Parts Source, Napa, etc? Is there a specific type I should get? I am also thinking of starting to 'black-out' the engine compartment as opposed to chrome. Is it possible to paint or coat the alternator black? Suggestions?
