Last time the motor went in new MMs were used. Didn't line up for [censored]. Seemed like the motor was sitting too low and could not get a full bolt hole for the bolt to thread into. I finally had to jack the motor up enough to get both bolts in and then let it down. It didn't seem like a good idea to leave it like that and I suspected that the pan was sitting on the frame. So I went ahead and shimmed both sides with .130 thick steel. Bolts went in fine and now have 1/4" clearance under the pan. Less vibration too. All good. I suspect that after time things get bent out of shape and adjustments must be made to allow for it.
not to hijack the thread.. but when I put my new motor In everything lined up pretty good .. but the pan sits right on the frame... I thought about shimming it.. something an 1/8 inch?? between where though??
