Did you keep the old bumpers to make sure they are the same? Were the rear 1/4 or tail panel changed? May want to use some clay or tinfoil in the bumper location and see how thin it needs to be. You could shave down the bumpers or beat down the pad area. You may find the whole lid will be up high once the weatherstripping goes in. Adjusting the latch is an option as well.
