I'm currently about 400 miles away from my tools & one of the mounting studs on my power steering pump sheered off inside the pump. I can't seem to find a machine shop nearby that will extract the stud from the pump, and I don't have the tools necessary to move my pulley to a new pump.
Would it be OK to drive this 1968 Firebird 400 around town with the power steering pump removed, and the power steering lines looped? I really need to get this car to the shop to begin some body work, this power steering pump is causing delays. I know on some cars the steering column is not strong enough to work without power steering, etc, so I figured I'd check beforehand.
