My brother had a good idea...go to home depot and get the 1/8" pieces of steel they sell, you know the kind that is like 1.5" wide or so...drill a hole in it, cut it so its the same size as the seats foot (that way when its tightened down it doesnt bend the foot). Make two of them if needed.
It felt good to see the seats back in the car after more than a year...even though it was just to mock it up. Engine is more than half paid for and most of what is left is reassmbly...until the next problem comes up!
