I've been finding a lot of quick buck Pontiacs out there, it seems to be a fad to grab a 67-69 350 body and throw a quick paint and interior job and ask for 25-30k, I saw a 69 350 done up like TA and asking price like 40k, I saw two guys who paid big bucks for faux firebirds, one had tri power with the tri power badge he thought was factory correct and another was a 68 with a 67 nose and the firewall ahd been hacked off with no heat just straight sheet metal, probably a wrecked bracket car. I've have seen a ton of GTO's that aren't GTO's asking for 50k, ooooo it has Judge graphics, big deal, there's a lot of 70 lemans with GTO noses, you have to run the VIN, below is a Pontiac vin checker, it changes over the years and below that I'll post the Pontiac block checker and you have to get the head numbers too. You really need to get under these cars and check as thoroughly as you can, there will be always something you missed but anything should have a good going over, jack it up, check the bearings, the brakes, did they just coat the undercarriage and frame?? why??
My 67 was a decent #3, it was a 6 auto someone put a 68 400 WZ block and matching drivetrain into with a 70 rear, I was a GTO guy, after buying I researched FB's and found in 67 they onnly made 6 RA 400 convertibles and none survive so I decided to turn it into a tribute, so far I have less than 20 in it including buying it.
