Note: There is a Dealer Service Information Bulletin 68-I-56 – Exhaust Manifold Heat Riser Valve Eliminated – 1968 V-8 Engines

So, I don't know how that whole system should be handled. Hopefully, someone else will chime in. I know that I have had that disconnected with my longbranch manifolds for many years.
