I'm prettty sure window regulators and tracking components were zinc plated to inhibit corrosion. If you Sand or sandblast you might be doing more damage than good. I cleaned and lubricated mine with white grease.
BTW I needed to replace a couple window track components. I found Classic Headquarters window track components to be high quality. Their components were not plated so I painted prior to installation.
