FYI: The 1967 Firebird's all had a rear axle that was grabbed off the Le Mans/GTO parts shelves due to the short development time of the Pontiac F-body. Thus the reason why all those rear axles have unused provisions (loops) for the upper control arms that were used on the bigger cars. The single (auto) and dual (stick) OEM traction bars were a bandage to prevent excess wheel hop with the single leaf rear springs. All this was corrected in 1968 with multi-leaf springs and staggered rear shocks.
