My 67 has a surprising amount of rust under/behind the dash and in the ceiling of the trunk. Is it normal for rust to show up or be worse there, such as perhaps those areas weren’t painted as well? The body and undercarriage are relatively ok so I don’t think it was flooded. Any ideas on the best way to treat without taking the car apart? I was thinking of spraying rust reformer. Thanks.
It is very common to have your dash rusty. The car twists in the front and rear (torque). Both windows have the window seal break and leads to water leakage into the trunk. The water gets trapped in the lower dash and rusts out. Only rear way to fix rust is to replace it with new steel. Or you can buy the stuff and converts flaky rust into kryptonite $9.95. There is usually 5-10 times more rust than you can see. It's like a ice burg, 3/4 of the ice is below the water line.
