Another special Contact at the Automatic-Gearbox underneath the car , was a single contact with a horseshoe. I connected a cable and pulled it near to the floor shift into the car. Is this the downshift solenoid valve or the downshift solenoid terminal ? For what is that useful and how is it used ? http://thefirstgensite.com/library/partscounter/illustrated/auto/thmm401.html -> part 25
If the '67 is like my '68, there should be a switch mounted by the carb. On near-full throttle, the switch is actuated by the throttle linkage to force a downshift by the trans. I'll let a '67 owner elaborate on the switch. I know for the '68, the switch is not reproduced but used originals sometimes are located. There have been discussions here about aftermarket switches and designs that have been used. Do a search on the forum for "kickdown" and maybe another for "downshift" and you will find discussions, some specific to each of the three 1st Gen years.
