Did the 1967 HO and RA engines get the chrome air cleaner and valve covers as part of that engine package? My 1967 400 HO parts car came with them. I don't see the NYPD spending extra for that option when it did not even order a radio. My buddy's 1967 400 Firebird did NOT come with them. As far as I can tell, that set only came on 1966 and 1967 cars and only on 389 and 400 engines. I always felt that was a Pontiac only option, but I have seen pictures of that same pancake air cleaner on some 1967 Corvettes. What I do know is that in 1968 the heated THERMAC air cleaner became mandatory. 1967 was the last year for a cold air intake. The swap meet supply of OEM Pontiac chrome valve covers is tremendous. Way more than any possible HO/RA build number. Perhaps the regular 400 engine got them in later years? It is the chrome pancake air cleaner that is pretty rare. I have my original, and another I got from a guy in PA selling parts from his 1967 GTO.
