Basically if you get the Mallory Unilite, make sure you put a ballast resistor on a full 12V line or check to make sure the power line (factory resistor wire) you use is down to about 6 volts. And use their power filter to prevent electrical spikes. This way, that expensive electronic module will live forever. I got a lot of years out of mine after making these adjustments and will be putting another Unilite on my Firebird.
PS, grounding the distributor while moving it one tooth up or down will short out the modular too (how do I know?). ALWAYS disconnect the battery when playing around with a Unilite.
