Someone asked a few weeks ago about oil filter clearance with new headers. The smaller filter I use is a WIX #51042. It is over one inch shorter than the standard filter, and keeps adequate clearance from the collector area of the headers.

I'm one my third one now and have had no "implosion" issues with the brand.
