I don't think there's a danger as long as the center section cross shaft was still there, like it shold be on a pontiac axle, but I could be wrong. It happens on c-clip axles since the center section shaft is removed... side gears and shims fall out.

spin the driveshaft yoke and one or both axles should turn. If you're spinning an axle, the yoke may stay in place -normal.
