Reading a post that was brought back up today, I wanted to bring this topic up.
I've got a 69 automatic that I've put Hedman headers on. Unfortunately, the headers block the steering lockout linkage from attaching from the tranny to the steering column so I no longer have anything to turn on my backup lights.
Has anyone come up with a way to modify the 69 setup to allow the use of the backup lights AND run headers at the same time?
I know I can add a goofy toggle switch right into the wires, but I would prefer something that is more "correct".
In previous posts people talked how 67/68 had the backup lights in the automatic shifter? Is this true? If it was a floor shifter, can that be adapted to use on a 69?
Thanks for any help. I need to get my car inspected and I don't want to run the chance of failing due to backup lights.
