We have suffered a denial of service attack (someone spammed our email account with 1000s of fake email messages). This has caused our server to bog down trying to handle messages. This has also caused us to be listed a spammer as our server bounces all the messages.
To fix this, I have had to do a couple things including switching how my DSL line works (dynamic to static). When this change takes place, the mailing list server will go offline until I can get back to it to reset our configurations.
What this means to you: - Some of you will still receive messages until the switch as your ISP does not view us as a spammer. - Most of you will NOT receive messages until the switch as your ISP views us as a spammer. This should be late next week when switch occurs and that weekend before I can reconfigure my server.
What this means to me: - Headache - Double out of pocket for my DSL line.
Update: The change in our DSL service should occur 04-13-2006. Two things will (should) occur: 1. Our server will go offline when it takes place until I can reset it. 2. Once reset, we should be back to 100%.
Thank you for your patience - Geoff
ps - We will be forming a support group until this is resolved for those who are too addicted and are going through withdrawals.
