Personally, I don't think that anyone has "tried" to form specific social groups here, nor has anyone gone out of their way to alienate a majority of the board members in any way. And I don't think that is the case.
There is an inherent social aspect to a board such as this with so many people who have similar interests... and that to me is the main draw and what "I" enjoy about the group. I consider everyone part of the group, and think everyone has the same opportunity to participate.
There are many people who feel more comfortable just gleaning the technical information they are looking for, or sharing such, while others like myself share what little we know, or at least point people in the right direction to find the information while getting a chance to get to know many of the people that are members of the group... as a whole!
Yes, there will be people who instantly get along great and find they have much more in common than just their Firebirds... and there will be people and or personalities that will clash from time to time.
For this reason, Geoff had asked for help in monitoring the posts to "try" and keep the peace and keep things going smooth. He works full time like many of us, and there is no way he can monitor every post, and keep people accountable to the rules and guidelines we all agreed to all on his own. So, he asked a few members to help him out. People who have been with the board for a long time, and who usually are known for having diplomacy in such situations.
This was not something that was needed previously, but with the number of members growing daily, there is bound to be more and more issues, and there will have to be more and more "help"
Personally, yes, I've met a LOT of great people here and have made what I consider to be really good friends. Some I've met and shared beers with, others I've never met. Not all agree with me or the way I see things, and I don't agree with all I see and read... but we ALL have a responsibility to one another, and to Geoff, to do our part to try and be civil in this public forum. This is great group of people... who all have a passion for the 1st Gen Firebird.
I can understand your perceived views, but to be honest with you, I really don't think they are on target in this case.
Sorry for the long post! I know I talk too much... but no one said you had to read it all!
