You will have different shifter bodies and different handles. Wheras, you may have the correct body/base (brains) and have the incorrect handle (chrome)
I am not a second gen expert, but I believe some came with Muncie transmissions and some with Borg Warner.
Are we dealing with a First Gen Firebird that this 455 is in? What year, and what trans. If I have this, I can set you up with the correct shifter body, handle and linkage.
