LOL, when I was looking to buy my bird, I located one in Georgia, by Atlanta, owned by Al Yelton on this site, his car is still in the online show under his name....
I hadnt sold my Healey yet (to get room) , and eventually we talked about a trade..Al was interested...we were to drive half way ea to meet ,check ea others cars out and swap, prices were agreed on , even swap... we were to drive to Halletsville (about halfway) and meet there...swap, go back with 'new' cars... well, the weather was bad the first weekend... both were convertibles, so we waited , weather was bad second weekend, he had to go out of town third, then the 4th was good weather and we could both go on saturday...great!.... thursday nite he called me "I sold the car"!
"what"?
"Yes ,got cash for it"...
oh well.... time goes by...2 years...
one day out driving to a client meeting I see a red Firebird convertible sitting at a redlight as I go by...I look at my watch ,"yes I have time to go talk to the guy" (may see if he`s interested in our group), so I U-turn , by now he had green and was going down the street ,at good speed...
after a few blocks I chased him down , got his attention (I was not in my bird), he looked confused as I asked him to stop.. we talked , he had bought it about 2 yrs ago, was a 67...blah , blah... I look it over...it looks really familiar... I go:" Is this Al Yeltons car?" "Yes, how do you know"? "You bought MY car!"
funny how the car would end up in Houston...saw the car a couple of times after that as he came to our HALF meets..... unfortunately he later sold it , and I have NO IDEA where it is now....
but it was MY car! just what I wanted... 67 convertible , 400,4 spd, original paint, not orig 400 though ,it was 326 once, the 400 hood was orig paint ,but from another car of same color...
