You and your painter realize that HO stripes are the ones on the side and have an "H.O." in the center of them, right? It's not really something that's easy to just tape off and do unless you don't care about having the text in them and just want the stripe. Here's a link to the HO stripe kit from Phoenix Graphix that has a picture of it. If this is what you mean, maybe someone else here who has them can measure theirs for you.
