From what I can figure out so far is, the tilt and nontilt are the same switch but they are built 180 degrees of each other. The switch is the same, it is just built on brackets that mount opposite. It appears the 1969 pontiac switch is different than others. It has an extra terminal.
To solve my problem. I removed my original nontilt switch from the mounting bracket and installed it in the bracket of a later model tilt switch bracket and now I have created a 1969 tilt switch.
P.S. do not attempt if you are not good with small contact points and springs as the switch being spring loaded will come apart if you are not extremely careful.
