I have the Pertronix 1181LSCC, works like a champ. But I recall the instructions saying to feed the coil from a 12V supply, not through the resistor wire. What is your coil primary to ground voltage? If less than 11 volts that may be the problem. The points work with resistance (wires or ballast resistor) but not Pertronix.
