I was wondering if I should just expect the top to leak like all heck when driving in the rain or if there is something wrong with the top. When driving in the rain the point where the windshield meets the top lets water in at will. If I am going somewhere and suddenly get caught in a rain storm I might as well just put the top down -- I would stay dryer. Any suggestions?
when you say top front rail are you talking about the on the top itself?
How tight should the top pull down? Can that be adjusted.-- haven't looked at that yet. I remember looking at the hooks and thinking they could be screwed in or out to tighten the top. Is that correct?
Yes, the seal is on the front rail of the top, and seals against the windshield header.
Unlatch the top and turn the latch blocks to loosen or tighten. Both should clamp with the same force, and enough to firmly compress but not crush the rubber weatherstrip seal.

Mine is in good shape...and I make sure to "lubricate" the rubber lightly with Vaseline (try it!), but mine keeps leaking in the rain...a lot...drips in my lap, on the horn button etc...esp if at speed...like 60-70...no way of keeping it out ,and my topp goes down verey tight....my recommendation , just dont drive in the rain! I try not to, but sometimes get caught...it just stinks!
When adjusting the top use a dollar bill against the windshield frame and the top. Adjust the top so the bill wont slide out without alot of force. I use this trick for door seals also. If the bill falls out tighten the top down a little more, but dont over do it or the seal can crush enough to deform it the you will have a heck of a time sealing it up. Daren
First thing to check is if you have a seal. When I purchased my convertible, it didn't have a front seal. On my first Woodward Cruise I had to come through a downpour. With no seal it literately poured in. Lucky for me I was smart enough to keep a towel handy.
That dollar bill test can be used on any seal. I remember the techs at the Saturn dealer using that to find side glass leaks and whistles. Thanks Daren for that reminder!
I certainly have a seal, and its pretty tight...its actually hard to clip on...but I will also try the old dollar bill trick/test ,had fogetten about it!
I just looked at the seal and it is there but junk. It crumbles as I run my fingers over it. My header over the top of the window (the chrome part) is rusty (not real bad just bad enough to need to replace it)
Where do I get these parts (good quality ones) as well as door and widow seals

Do NOT buy new OERs ,re-chrome the old! I`m speaking from expoerience...it cost just little bit more , but you`ll be glad yu spent those $$...because the old FITS!
