My 69 is a manual top frame, are there any differences between the manual top frame and the power top frame, I was told that one of the frame parts need to be changed out in order to accept the power top cylinders. I have the pump, hoses, cylinders wiring and switch, just need to know if I need to change out something on the frame.
The guy welding my car has a 68 power top frame that he didn't know he had, we pulled it down and I'm gonna buy it from him, He thinks he put it in the top of his shop in 1972. It's beautiful. I agreed to help him get some stuff out of the rafters in his place, I'll be posting the parts he wants to get rid of after I pick through them.
I'm gonna order a TA hood from terri when i get close to the paint. Zak

and by the way I finally had to put my top up saturday, as we got some rain when I was out...checked the top next am, yes ,its a manual frame...but I DO still have the cylinders and the motor, just no hoses...so, now I suspect that the frame didnt like being powered, and thats why the frame had damage as I bought the car...we had to weld one rail back together..... so I guess I`ll leave the cylinders in there , too messy to take out...but if someone needs a motor, I may have one for sale....took it out from behind the back seat 5 yrs ago, since it was loose and was rolling around...
I bet those cylinders are damaged. It doesn't take much. Just putting a top up crooked will ruin them. If they bent that frame they have been put to the test.
Ive been following this thread, and laughing all the way.. Of course, Im stuck in the paradox right now because Ive got a power setup, (frame), but the pump, clyinders, lines, and wiring/with switch are sitting in a box in the corner of the garage not hooked up. Its right now easier to simply do it manually... So..do I continue to do it manually, or, do I wade into the deep pool and hook up the pump, lines, switch, and become an old, fat person hoping the battery doesn't die??
Wiscbird: There are many other things that can go wrong too: the switch can burn out, the breaker could give out, a line could bust and blow oil all over your interior, the pump could quit, etc.... Embracing these risks on a daily basis makes some of us old fat persons feel more alive.
Bjorn: I have a set of helper springs if you're interested. You could go save a little of your back yet avoid being accused of being an old fat guy.

thanks John...its not bad as it is...I appreciate it ,but doint think I`ll mess with it...Ive learned that the less you mess with an old car the better it runs/works...lol
