"i have been told that a complete steel hood has been reproduced and is due out very soon. supposedly the distributor of them just recieved a container of them."
Imagine a metal TA hood for about $500. Makes you wonder when you see all the real TA hoods getting offed in the last year. Did someone hear 'a little birdie' talking?

There are 2 listed on ebay right now.
68' Firebird 400 convertible, numbers matching, solar red w/ deluxe parchment interior. 66' Pontiac Ventura Hardtop 66' Pontiac Catalina Convertible
no wonder people were selling real ones last year, for high bucks...now if they fit fine...there will be a lot of sore guys out there...+_$ 10,000 vs 500?...
for that price ($500, if true) and if fit is ok....I bet many will sell, I wouldnt mind one myself...just for the 'looks'...

Really, if anyone has more info on a repop steel hood, please spill your guts!
WTF? WHY cant anybody learn to store/set hoods correctly? especially "valuable" ones like these... BOTH these sellers stood them up on the rear corners...
You NEVER set a hood on its rear points, you set it on its side! anybody ever worked in a parts dept know that....others should too...
ALWAYS set in its side...
The idiots that shipped my 400 hood from Canada, set it on its rear corners too...guess what happens after 1800 miles in a truck? No corners left...

I do it because i'm usually alone when i need to either remove or install mine. Not easy being 5'11" and 175 lb's. Do use soft blocks of pine. Get'n old...maybe time for a glass hood.

when I took off my 350 hood and installed the 400...I just laid it sideways, not setting it up...and I`m being 5'8' at 183 and oldlbs...
And if you gotta set it up like that, use a chunk of styrofoam or something to set it on. They set that hood in the dirt! WTF! Probably stole it.
what I`m saying ,you dont have to set it like that...when you`re holding it , beak straight up, you just tilt over to o=ne side lay it down on the lip...no reason to even risk damaging the corners...when I ran our dealership I learned that in the parts dept...they ALWAYS put the hoods on their side...shipping (Volvos shipping anyway) ,was also done on the side
Sometimes even the best precautions still don't help. I had the hood from my '70 Mustang carefully stashed at the front of my parents garage when I rebuilt the motor in high school. It was protected by a bunch of soft boxes in front of it (I thought)
One day my mom nosed her car in too far and pushed something into it enough to gouge it.
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. So I'm claiming it) Old projects, gone but not forgotten: 1967 FB 400, original CA car. After 22 years of work, trashed by the guy who was supposed to paint it. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI

You can fit more Volvos in the cargo container that way. Should have stood them up on end.
they might come from overseas in a container ,but not from Atalnta warehouse to our store in Houston....just by truck....still shipped on side and stored on their side...as I was told then ,to not damage the rear corners....and Swedish steel is among the best!
I had an original cowl induction hood for a 69 Camaro in my garage for 10 years. I kept it on it's side. Kept it facing the wall with soft insulation to protect the contours. I used a bunch of bungy cords to keep it in place. Nothing could hurt it. I auctioned it on eBay and got a 'pretty penny' for it. When I shipped it I went down to the nearest body shop and got a hood box for it. I had it boxed up perfectly. I took it to the truck trailer myself and helped load it and strap it to the wall of the trailer. Somehow, after they unstrapped it and before they removed it from the trailer it fell over and the fork truck ran right over it! I had it insured for $2000. They squeeled like pigs about it but had to pay up.
I have the finished painted 400 hood under my storage platform, flat and covered. The RC flat hood is on the ends on cardboard for the moment. Probably get rid of it and get a glass one soon.
Got to tell on my old neighbor though. He had a Corvette Convertible with 327 and flat hood. He decided to add the 427 stinger hood as it does look better. Anyway we stashed his old hood under his house, (crawl space) wrapped and on blocks. Several years past, he added a back porch to the house, a few other improvements, etc... He eventually sold the house so I helped him pack his car stuff, that's when he realized his hood was still under the house and the new back porch covered the larger access doors. Oops! We chisled out bricks on the small door to get just enough room to slide it out. It was either that or cut the hood.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
