Us Buckeyes haven't had this much fun since the blizzard of '78. Franklin Co. is under a level 2 snow emergency, with surrounding counties under level 3. It's a good thing I have plenty of Scotch.
that looks like a "normal' winter day , as I remember them growing up in Sweden......and I dont miss it....
but acc. to Goran (Snowcruiser) that type of weather is non typical now...
when I was in the Swedish Army, we had the coldest winter in 40 yrs (63/64)several feet of snow and -25 to -30 C in february while we were on maneuver , (in tents!)
Saw that on news last night... Rain here ,but at least I had the cammer out yesterday for a fix... The other guys in my club are getting real itchy to get their cars out winters definatly getting to long up here....

Looks like fun! We got 'spared' this one. It's just darn cold. The one we had a month ago, all our windows were covered with frozen snow like that. You couldn't see out of any windows. Hunker down and pray you keep your power on.
Scotch does if ya want it to, so does Jägermeister! Ya just have to drink a lot of it. I just heard a report of folks getting sited, and some going to jail for being out in the outlying counties.
The snow is letting up a bit, but the blowing and drifting is the big problem. Technically we really aren't in a blizzard. The winds are only about 20 MPH, and visibility is improving above a 1/4 mile. We haven't seen this much snow for some time. And our last official blizzard was in '78.
I may go out and brave the elements to shovel the walk. I've got two foot drifts to get through. Wish I could send some of this snow down to Texas!
This mornings news (paper and MSN) talk about "theres no way to stop Global Warming unless we totally eliminate growing CO levels"...but theres also this story...not very publicly told...click on the "camera" to start the video of "possible new ice age"
Mar 9 Midwest cleans up after record snowfall - Highway and utility crews worked overtime Sunday to recover from the huge snowstorm that buried Ohio and other parts of the Midwest. More than 20 inches of snow fell from Friday through Saturday at Columbus, eclipsing the city's previous record of 15.3 inches set in February 1910, the National Weather Service said. Elsewhere on Saturday, 14 inches fell at Milan, Ind.; and up to a foot fell at Louisville, Ky., Buffalo, N.Y., Cleveland, Cincinnati, and parts of Tennessee. Arkansas collected a foot of snow Friday. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080309/ap_on_re_us/severe_weather_34 Thanks to Clay Olson for this link
Mar 8 Record Snow Buries Parts of Ohio, Indiana - 8 Mar 08 - Columbus, Ohio - A heavy winter storm walloped Ohio's capital city with more than 20 inches of snow, while blizzard conditions shut down highways across the state and parts of Indiana on Saturday.
The storm dumped 20.4 inches of snow on Columbus, breaking the city's previous record of 15.3 inches set in February 1910, the weather service said. Cincinnati and Cleveland also received about a foot of snow.
Snow as far south as Natchez, Mississippi - In addition to snow in Atlanta, Georgia, here’s a small sampling of other southern locations reporting snow as of 6 a.m. Saturday morning.
What a mess. When we were up in Buffalo this past w/e they got hammered Fri & Sat. All total they must have about 15-20". When we left on Sunday there were drifts and piles of snow 5-10' alond the road side and retail parking lots had piles so high I can't beleive it. What a friggen mess. Reminded us exactly why we moved...

Cold Easter expected across the UK - 18 Mar 08 - Forecasters expect a cold blast to affect much of the UK during the Easter period as winds feed in colder air from the north.
Wintry showers will affect mainly northern and eastern parts by Good Friday with snow accumulations on higher ground and possibly at lower levels.
Much of Europe will also experience cold weather for the Easter period with snow showers and strong winds affecting northern and western parts. Forecasters expect significant snowfall across the Alps over the weekend. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/world/news/18032008news.shtml

Quebec closing in on snowfall record ____________________________________
19 Mar 08 - Several dozen schools were expected to remain shut this week in the Canadian province of Quebec over fears their roofs may collapse under the weight of near record amounts of snow. All told, 90,000 students have been out of school in the Montreal area since Friday. To date, some 350 cm of snow has fallen in the Montreal area, approaching a record level of 383 cm set in 1971. (Short of the record by 13 inches - and it’s only March 19.)
Some school roofs have three meters (ten feet) of accumulated snow, school board officials said. About 300 workers were using shovels, scoops and even chainsaws to cut through the snow and ice.
There has been even more snowfall in Quebec's outlying areas. The Mont Orford ski hill about 120 kilometres to the east of Montreal has had 527 cm of snowfall since the beginning of the season
It's also possible that some of the heat has gone even deeper into the ocean, he says.
that would explain some CO2 levels being slightly higher...CO2 is frozen in lower areas of oceans, frozen sea bottoms, and when warmed up ,releases into the atmosphere...so the heat is making kore CO2 , not the CO2 making heat...as I pointed out long ago before... this has been discussed at length...its like the chicken and the egg, which comes first...Al keeps saying CO2 causes heat....others that heat causes CO2 in the atmosphere...looks like we (not Al) could be right?
Britain prepares for Arctic Easter - 19 Mar 08 - Forecasters are warning Britons to expect bitterly cold temperatures and travel delays over the Easter holiday period. The country is expected to face biting Arctic winds, snow and some of the worst weather on the roads over the earliest Easter since 1913. Scotland and northeast and eastern England were likely to be hit with snow tomorrow night. The snow could spread to the south-east by the weekend.Advisory notes have been issued, warning of snowfall of up to 10cm in some places in the north.
Temperatures were expected to hover between 4C and 8C during the day and drop as low as ––3C at night.
There's no debate. CO2 in the atmosphere does cause heat. It's the source and quantity that can be debated...
but warmings of frozen water = ice, that melts and releases CO2 (beacuse its in there) also increases the amount in the atmosphere..
Right. There are so many ways that CO2 gets into the atmosphere. There's a bunch that get's released by undersea vulcanos and other 'vents'. All of that going into the atmosphere does warm the Earth. Which creates more CO2. It's a circle. The Earth is up to something... All we can do is enjoy the ride.

I`m enjoying the ride! with the "new" name for Global Warming = Climate Change...they will always be right...there has alwas been climate change ,and will always be...it never stays the same.....not sure "climate change" will sell as many carbon credits though....and I`ve been wondering all the time...how much will the globe cool down per carbon credit sold?
Carbon Credits are not all bad. I like some of the incentives to stop the polution. Fine particals are a killer.... And the way the companies earn their carbon credits is good. Planting trees is always a good thing.
The forester estimated we have 15,000 trees on our place up north, and we have about 40 here on our acre. I think I covered anything my cars will generate in my lifetime.
