Joe if that handle has the #5325 on it, It has been bent..I know these shifter handles well. Sorry.........I will look for one in my parts...Anyone else?...Vikki, Can you help him?
It needs rechrome now so doesn't matter as far as that goes. Oh well, I'll keep looking. If I can't find one I'll keep what I have as the new M21 will be going in soon so I don't have a lot of time to round one of these things up...
Banchee, 69firebirdman, Fbody, anyone have a 5325 shift arm they would be willing to sell? I have the correct shifter body that is 100% perfect so I only need the handle.
If anyone has one they would be willing to sell, please PM me otherwise I will go with what I have and install my rebuilt M21 very soon....
Not sure if it´s really correct - they don´t mention any number of the shifter stick - but at least the shifter head seems to be the right one (#3138), so why not the rest... USD 46.00 at this moment and still running 22 hours...
That Shifter is incorrect for a FGF....It is possibly GTO.. But NOT Firebird...There is no offset on the shifter...AND here is proof that the #3138 is NOT a shifter# But it is a side cover# that was used on MANY Hurst shifters.
Thomas VERY good link here...As I stated prior there is no part # on a Hurst shifter to tell if it is a FGF or not....HERE IS THE LINK............There are no GM or more specifically any Pontiac "part #s" on any of the Hurst "factory" OEM shifters because they were made under contract by Hurst specially for Pontiac.
Hurst used a 4 digit numbering system inside of their factory to identify stamped and welded up compound parts & sub-assemblies. BUT this numbering "system" was used for EVERYTHING they made, you see they(Hurst) made NO distinction whatsoever between the "OEM" contract shifters & the aftermarket shifters, they were ALL assembled on the same production benches, even though the pieces were different, they were assembled by the same workers.
None of the numbers on shifter bases tell you for sure what year, make or model car that shifter came in. Those are production numbers for use inside of the Hurst factory.
Thanks Thomas, I am hoping to find just a shifter handle #5325 as I have found a perfect housing/body. If all else fails I will try to heat and bend the one I have back to the right configuration and have it rechromed and hope for the best...
67 Firebird, here is a question for you. The 5325 handle that I have in my hand has the smaller threads at the top for the shifter ball. The one on Ebya that Thomas posted has the larger threads, I am wondering if the one on Ebay is truly a 5325 as I beleive they are to have the smaller threads correct?
Joe..To answer your question....The 1967 Munzi shifter handels did have the "small" threads...The 1968's did not ,as Vikki stated yours looks correct AND yes the originals did NOT have a lock nut on them UNLESS you ordered the wood shift knob that DID have a lock nut on it......The link to the $299.00 one sure looks correct to me.....I have seen these complete shifters go over $600.00 to Camaro people as they are correct for 1969 Camaro's as well....Also, I do not think you can ever re-bend that shifter to be truly correct....Just my thoughts.
I agree that getting your handle back to the correct form will likely be more trial and error than the effort is worth. I'll call a local source and see if I can snag just a handle for you. If you don't mind rechroming it, chances are very good I can find what you need.

Thanks Vikki, 67. I appreciate your help. I certainly don't mind rechroming. I have a few other parts to be done at the same time and I have a connection to a plater...
Anything... anyone??? I'm hoping to find a 5325 sometime soon otherwise I'm going to have no choice but to heat and rebend the one I have. If anyone has one that is badly rusted I don't care, as I will have to get the one I have rechromed anyway...
My local contact is always very hard to reach, I've called him every day this week. He doesn't return calls, his phone goes almost nonstop, I just have to catch him when he answers or take a chance on a 15 mile drive to see if he's there. I will call him again tomorrow.

I'll ask. I hate when there is no buy it now option. I am the most impatient person in the world so this stuff drives me nuts. LOL I always list a buy it now on all of my auctions. I know what I want for items so that's what I set the price at.
Vikki, what would a 5325 typically sell for? I'd like to know what is reasonable. Off the top of my head I would think right around $200 would be reasonable, but then again I don't really know this particular part very well...
Bang! Done. Item is on it's way! Thank you Jim for posting the find.
I would also like to say that this seller so far is awesome. I sent them an E-m with an offer of more than what the current Ebay price is at. They returned my E-m almost immediately and gave me the same price as listed on Ebay with a phone number to call if I wanted the item.
I called the number and the VERY plesant lady on the other end handled the transaction on the spot and then tells me the shipping was a bit less than quoted on Ebay and charges me accordingly. And then informs the item will go out TODAY!
If the balance of this transaction goes this smoothly and the part is what it is adv. to be, this will be my first resource (other than you folks) going forward.
After the BS I had with that other place selling me something on Ebay and then several days later telling me they did not have the item, this was a real pleasure.
I'll be sure to post more once the item has been received!
Well, again, thanks to all! Vikki, thanks for your efforts as well. This site is just awesome. Now I am looking forward to getting my new blue printed M21 & this correct shifter installed in the car!
I will also take pics of my existing shifter, although not correct, it does work perfectly and maybe someone on here could use it. I will offer it along with the shifter body/housing etc. and I might even have a complete set of rods to go with it as well. At least everyone will know that even though it is not correct, it does in fact work with an M21 or a Saginaw along with our stock console etc.
Thanks, very excited. All of this because someone on this site just had to point out that I had the wrong shifter handle! Gee thanks. See if I ever ask you people to critique my car ever again. Just kidding, I'm glad it was brought to my attention before I installed the new M21!
