I keep hearing the same thing over and over... "I was the only FGF".. "Only one other FGF"..
guys we have to collectively can a pitch.. it's power in numbers.. we are Rare birds that should easily be at the upper end of the market but instead we've been condemed to step-child status to the Camaro and GTO...
Mini-Pearl was the original social engineer by leaving the price tag on her hat.. by the end of the 80s that was all the rage.. I think the market will pop like others have but lets take our share...
"this was the upgrade to the Camaro" "Delorean dropped the dominate GM/GTO powerplant in the F-body it's first year, took Camaro until 1969 to catch up" "the Firebird.... what else?
before we sully the "thread of all time" won't you do the right thing and split this into a, why my Firebird will kick your camaro arse,, (or something like that?)
You are basically wasting you time/effort blacking out your plate. When your car sits at a car show all day and 100 people take a picture, they then post their pics all over the internet etc. anyway. So all in all what's the point. Not too mention as stated above, we drive all over the place all the time and anyone who wants it can get it easily enough anyway.
In addition, I have never heard of ANY DMV willing to provide that info to anyone for free nor a fee. JMO
On Highway 89 between St Mary and Babb, Montana (on the Blackfeet Indian reservation), just outside of Glacier Nat'l Park. Lower St Mary Lake... great views!!
Just a couple of updates on my Bird. I know it still looks rough but almost all the body work is done, all the bad metal replaced, initial alignment and gaps done, etc. Hopefully paint in 2 weeks. Interior all done and waiting to go in...
Thank's I got the wheels because they are much easer to keep clean than the rally 2s and are more open to show the 4 wheel disc brakes. Have Hotchkis convertible subframe connecters to put in next.
Jim I want to thank you for your stereo idea. I put the head unit under front seat, kick panel speakers, box speakers on back floor, and a infinity 200 watt sub in the trunk. sound is great!!!
Get to keep the orignal AM-FM working in the dash.
Here's my firebird's first legal drive!!! I've finished everything necessary to make it move (engine, suspension, brakes, trans, etc). These pictures are from a few weeks ago; first one is in the DMV parking lot and the second is taking my wife out for lunch after it was registered. What a trip to actually drive the car after working on it for 2 years. Now I drive it for a bit then it all comes back apart to do the body and interior.

Jim & Jim I'd like some info on your stereo install if possible. I'd like to do the same. What amp are you running and do you have any pics of your speaker install?
I've got the original AM radio in the dash and want to leave it. The PO had an AM/FM cassette deck hidden in the glove box and wired to the dash speaker. I'm glad he didn't touch the dash... but the sound sucks!
Trevor, On my 67, I have a Jensen 600 watt amp under the driver seat(picture below). It just barely fits. I have a Sony MP3 connected to the low power inputs. There's a speaker in each kick panel. I have the templates to cut the holes in the same place they were cut at the factory. Just let me know if you need a copy. I used welting to cover the rough edge where I cut the hole. You can also buy the factory style speaker covers from Classic Industries. I didn't want to spend the money on them(yet). I made two speaker boxes for the 6x9's in the rear of the car. I made them as small as I could for the 6x9's and I leave them on the floor in back. This is an excellent sounding system. I find it priceless to have perfect stereo separation between the front and back and side to side. Some tunes really take advantage of the four channels and sound awesome. Jethro Tull, Locomotive(breath) is one.
In the 69, I have the Hidden Audio in the trunk. It's AM/FM stereo and has a 10 disc CD changer. It has a small display that I mounted under the dash. It also has a remote with all the functions. There's only two speakers in that car because I didn't want to cut the original kicks(numbers matching car). I believe it's 118 watts per channel or so and it's almost as loud as the 600 watt set-up in the 67. I think both are a great choice but the 600amp-mp3-4 speakers is, by far, better sound, better selection, louder and better hidden.
