What's also depressing is my wife says she can't wait for me to get one so she can sign up for all the discount stuff. I wonder if Ames and Summit offer AARP discounts?
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
The wife joined up first and I got one because of that. I don't officially turn 50 'till January. It was kind of funny (now) but she held out from joining for quite a while. Then she finally did, and just a few weeks later we received a mailer addressed to "senior citizen". It took a while to get the ceiling fixed!
18 months for me. I'm planning a big bash with my in-laws in Phoenix. My BD is always the same week as the Scottsdale BJ auction so I will attend that along with a few blasts around Phoenix International Raceway courtesy of the Richard Petty Driving School.
2012 Mustang Boss 302 #1918, Competition Orange. FGF replacement 2006 Mustang V6 Pony, Vista Blue. Factory ordered. 2019 BMW X3 (Titled to the wife, but I'm always driving it for her. I had to sell it. 1980 Turbo Trans Am 1970 Mustang fastback, 351C 4Bbl, auto 1988 Mustang GT, 5 speed 1983 F-150 4x4, built 302 1994 Chevy K2500 HD 4x4, 454 TBI
Hope your kid'n about the age thing...i drop'd them about 10 yrs ago.
Nope, the big 5-O is on the doorstep. It's official on the 19th. I guess I'll do the research to see if it's worth joining AARP. That would be nice if our 'bird vendors gave us ol' folks a break.
No plans other than meet up with Banshee to buy a 400 hood. And then I'll probably just kick back with a bottle of 21 year Glenlivet.
I spoke too soon. The same card/offer was waiting for me today when I got home from work.
And I don't need to do any research. Besides the 5% here and 10% there you get off things, their magazine always has the latest info on hot retirement destinations.

I looked at it quickly, but if I remember membership was like $12.50 a year?

We used my Father in Laws AARP discount a few times on hotel rooms and rental cars when we traveled together. If you actually use it you will save some decent money. I've used an oddball USA Waterski membership discount for rental cars. Most people pitch the little flyer with all the benefits and forget about it, but I've used it quite a few times over the years. Free or discounted, I don't care how I get it, as long as I can use it I will. The only one I don't use is Year One, their prices are 10-20% higher anyway, the discount just gets it back in line. But they're always out of stock on Pontiac stuff anyway.

Thats what i meant, i joined when i was about 30-35. Found out i already got better hotel, motel, rental deals, etc, thru the NRA. Plus free gun insurance, and expert gun law attourney rec's in case i plug someone and get sued or in trouble with the law.
