I have a project 67 i had just purchased there was no keys. ive tried the screwdriver ive had no luck.ive pulled the whole key assembley out there is a red pink purple brown and green wire..if someone could help me out i would really appritiate it. thank you, dave
I remember one time I started mine by pulling the ignition switch out and jumping two of the wires that come out the back. If I remember correctly, there are letters on the back of the switch, one is "s" for start, one is "r" for run, those are the two you jump, take a small U-shaped piece of wire and push it into those two connections and the car will turn over, once it starts I beleive you remove the jumper and it will stay running. Maybe someone else can confirm this to be sure, but this is what I remember...
Or you can just buy an ignition switch with a key, or have a key made.
I have always found it more convenient to rig an ignition with a cheap toggle switch (12v 15A) between battery feed and ignition RUN terminal or coil positive. Then use a 12v 20A momentary on pushbutton switch between battery feed and ignition START terminal.
If you run the ignition switch to coil positive, you won't have the resistor wire so points won't last long, but if you're just shuttling around it'll be fine. I drove a car for a couple weeks rigged like that, until I could find and modify an appropriate wiring harness (before repros).
