I was driving home from an interview yesterday when I glanced over to the side to look at the Dodge dealership and what do my weary eyes see but 8 tiny reindee... oops wrong story. But TWO brand spanking new 2009 Dodge Challengers. First time I'd seen one in person. And actaully reasonably priced! $33,500 for the orange one and $35,500 for the black one with leather interior.

I was suprised to see a couple of them at every Dodge dealership I've been by. Guess supply is outpacing demand? Nice looking car, but it sure seems big and looks heavy.
You need to drive yours over and get a paired up picture. I bet they'd let you stage it.
Wanting a Custom fit in an off the rack world.
I don't have time for a job, I just need the money.
The 2008 in my photo (it was one of the 500 only in Canada) listed near $CDN50,000 and it was part of a silent auction in which the high bid was $8k over list - went to Alberta. If I was in the market in the next year and choosing between a Mustang, Camaro or Challenger this car would be the purchase I'd make. But considering: 1, my 2002 GMC pickup listed for almost $33,000 7-years ago when I bought it and; 2, the (I think it was a 2008) Mustang GT conv. another dealer had earlier this year had a $10,000 "Market Mark-up" tacked on to the price making it almost $50,000. I didn't think those were too bad selling at sticker price.
I see later this week (after the rain ends) if I can get down there with my 74 to take some pictures.

We bought our 07 Dodge Ram 1500 last year and it was 36k. We did get the 6k rebate but still, seems rediculous how expenseive cars/trucks are nowdays! We just tried to trade it in on an 08 Dodge SuperBee Charger SRT8 (only 1k built all are B-5 Blue) but we just couldn't get the numbers to work so we kept the Ram...
I saw a black (or dark Blue) one Friday Night in Dothan, Al. ... thought I was seeing things myself. I made a spectical of myself Look... Look at the Challenger!! My wife looked at me and said that too new to be one of those OLD cars! HUH?! My ten year old daughter said sweet... but the Mustangs looks better!
I'd rather see a rust bucket on the road, than a garage queen anytime!!

Funny, there was a black Challenger parked at Sauble Beach here in Ontario this summer that had Alberta plates on it. I see many of them for sale around here.Lots of 6cyls for sale.

They need ALL those 425 horses to push that bulk around. At a heaping 4150lbs they are still at that old weight to hp ratio that GM mandated years ago. Just the aerodynamic drag alone must be incredible.
I snagged a few pics today. Not the same cars I saw the other day but this one was closer! You can make it look a lot bigger just from the perspective of the picture. (Hope this works.) http://s42.photobucket.com/albums/e311/lentringer/Challenger/

My stripes aren't strickly stock either. One of the salesmen said they had just added the "graphics" to that one, so it didn't come with them from the factory. (It's the base model at $22,000.)
cf: I noticed that the first I pulled up to one. The whole car is taller. Although the RT's with the 20" wheels make it less noticable.

I did a lot of the development work on this car, it was inevitable that it would be too big. The basic platform is the LX which is the 300C and Magnum. Park one next to a Challenger and the basic shape is the same. There just wasn't any budget for a new platform for a low volume car.
Sad to say, there are a lot of unsold SRT-8's around the Detroit area and the RT's are piling in now. Watch the prices come way down.

When the concept car came out I told myself I was going to have one of those! Unfortunately I can't seem to find anyone willing to employ me so it looks like the only way I'll get one is used. I'm betting they will be discontinued soon.
