Is there any other radio that will fit and look good in a 68, I still have the original plate from the front of the factory radio, can this be used with another Pontiac radio. Thanks Jeff
There's a repro AM/FM radio with modern guts that looks really good. It costs $600, though. I am considering one for my bird. I'll dig up the website tomorrow if nobody else chimes in with the site.
That's it, 68 FB 400!. Thanks for the link. I may do that for my winter project. I'm running out of winter projects except for an engine swap. I've got a Custom Autosound in there now. Sounds great, looks decent, but otherwise is a POS. The tuner knob turns but the dial indicator doesn't.

You can get 25% off of these right now if you buy through ebay and pay with Paypal.
I was able to get it with 30% off a few weeks ago, but the discount has since dropped to 25%. No one knows how long it will stay at the 25% though. It sounds like it is overdue to go away now.
See this link for more information on how to obtain the 25% rebate. The second post really breaks it down pretty nicely.
This is on my list of things to do also. Bob S., what issues are you having with the CA radio? Has anyone installed the Vintage radio? I really like the looks but don't want to make a mistake at $600.
What is the best way to install speakers for a convertible? How are the underseat speakers by Custom Autosound?

It's $148 on this purchase at 25%, (almost $180 for me at 30%)
It is not that difficult to do. Takes 5 minutes to set up. The 60 day wait is a pain, but I completely understand why it is there.
I have taken advantage of the cash back program greatly since it's introduction and expect to hit the $2500 cap in the near future. I have utilized some purchases for work and have increased my profit margin on some items. Why would I NOT take advantage of the program?

Pontiacrocks, like I said it has good sound but has problems mechanically (with the model I have). The knobs never really worked well and eventually the dial indicator stopped moving so now I have to search for stations blindly. Also no push buttons, you have to tune manually. It looks sort of like an original radio, but not really.
Re CASH BACK on E-bay: Its easy. It works. DO IT!!(Thanks Cat!)
RE Custom Autosound: Bob S., What dial indicator? Mine is digital and only displays the tuned station numerically through a fake dial. Are we talking about the same radio? I did have to shorten the posts to fit the way I wanted it to...no big deal. I'll post some photos...
I'm a hobbyist. Not a professional. Don't be hatin'!
I ended up leaving the stock radio alone and install the secret audio(from Matt's) in the glove compartment and a 10 CD changer(off ebay) in the trunk. Also a couple of 6x9s(Ebay for .01 bid+ship) for the back and a 4x10 split stereo speaker(Classic) in the stock location in the dash. Sounds good enough for cruising.
