Who said anything like that? Lets keep it simple because it is; People who make over $250K a year will pay just 3% more in tax in just the portion of their income above $250K. That's how it was in the 90's. You would be surprised at how much revenue that brings in to pay off our country's debt just like we did in the 90's. This isn't about Robin Hood, LOL.

I'm sorry but I can't feel sorry for someone who has to pay 3 % more tax in the portion of their income over $250K. I've paid the top tax of 36% when I was only making $90K. We are only asking billionaires to pay 39% of their income(over $250k) to help out the country. If you keep being so stingy that you can't pay 3% more tax in your income over $250K then you might as well sell the Grand Canyon to the Chinese because that's where we are headed if we do not pay off our national dept.

It's not that simple. Taking more from a few does not fix any problems. Especially with the current economic climate.
Some thoughts: high taxes on short term capital gains, to deter market speculators. Not on total gains for the year, as that can be manipulated by selecting the most tax-advantageous lots, but on each transaction. Speculators are definitely contributing to the stock market rollercoaster, as are underfunded players on margin in a falling market. Perhaps lower the taxes on long term capital gains, with rate declining according to number of years held, to encourage long term investment and market stability.

You have it wrong...our crisis came when we had a booming business, 6 employees, production facility...then came the late '90s...October 27, 1997. We tried to ride it out, leveraged everything we owned to try to keep it going, and pay the wages of 6 employees without commensurate sales, and we are still paying for it now. If we had immediately ditched our employees we'd have been fine, but that's not the right thing to do. Clintonomics...
We downsized, and unless things stabilize we will not expand. The economy is far too flaky to invest in growing a business.

Why is it when someone tells the ugly truth about someone its called "fear tactics"? The truth is the truth. BTW, so-called trickle down economics started in the 80's with Ronald Reagan, which btw started the greatest economic boom this country has ever known. We were doing great economically until about two years ago when the dems took over the house and senate with control of the purse strings and regulations control. Its so asinine for people to want to punish people for earning their wealth. Class warfare is favorite tool of the libs. What on earth is fair about making some people pay more than others? How about everyone paying exactly the same percentage? That is the only way to be truly fair. We don't need welfare or socialism.
Issues I see with Obama are many, but claims he is anti-American are founded.
1. Obama took the American flag off the tail of his campaign jet and replaced it with his own logo. No presidential candidate has ever removed the American flag from their campaign jet.
2. Obama refuses to wear the little American flag pin that all American politicians wear.
3. Obama refuses to hold his hand over his heart during the playing of our National Anthem.
4. Michelle Obama stated she was never proud of her country until her husband was locked in as the Democratic candidate.
5. Obama stated he would bomb northern Pakistan (our friends) to get Osama Bin Laden. By comparison, if Great Britain found that their #1 most wanted terrosist was hiding in Indianapolis Indiana, is it ok for Britain to bomb Indianapolis to get their man?
6. He was friends with several anti-American terrorists (listed previously), some of which are extremely disturbing.
7. His church is racist and anti-American, yet Obama claims he didn't learn anything from them, even after attending that church every Sunday for the past 20 years.
You know, 15 years ago, a person with these traits was called a flag burner, anti-American, and had the potential for instigating domestic terrorism. It's hard to believe this guy will be our President. Times have sure changed.

I work for a small businness, we are home builders, a very large small business,,,no 23 home builder in the country...when our taxes go up, we have three choices, increase the price of our homes, lay off people or just have less profits...less profits in a very tight economic situation, wiil usually mean tighten your belt...= lay off people plus decreases in cost..lay offs the most common... so the 3rd is most likely similar to the no 2 choice. the no 1 choice , means higher costs for buyers
and people have complained about jobs going overseas...in this situation ,even more would ,every small bus. , that can outsource stuff overseas ,will = more job losses here, = more money to be paid out by others with jobs, = higher taxes for 'welfare'.
other small bus. will react the same way...my side business, drafting of hoomes or additions and remodels...with higher tax for me , I have two choices, do them , add the tax in = higher costs to my customers, or dont do them... many might decide no to do the work , what does that mean? when many dont do the work , a lower GNP...the whole country produces less...= less taxes come in...
in times like these ,you dont raise taxes, you reduce them...look at this scanario...just look at what Sweden di in the 70`s ...to 'help' workers we increased overtime pay to 200% vs our overtime here at 150%...with a high tax rate we had in Sweden , 50% and UP...people asked to do overtime got caught up in a higher tax bracket...would you want to work over time and get $2.50 out of every $10 you made?? is that an incentive? NO....so ,they didnt want to work overtime...but many had to , job deadlines etc req`d it... SO, we got time off instead = untaxed! great , right? You work 2 days OT , get 4 days off...sounds great...
but when many in the whole country do this , can you figure out what happens to the GNP?? and the total tax income? it goes down....what the result? gov`t raise the taxes to recoup....an evil circle...
do the opposite, lets say we pay 25% tax here, even raise the taxes as Obama says...IF SO, lets at least reduce OT taxes...you work OT, pay 1/2 your normal tax rate!! incentive?? you bet..many would work ot, for less taxes...what happens to GNP? it goes up...the whole counry produces more ,and when it des, the govt can get more taxes ,even at a lesser rate!

I love it! When I meet with my lawyer, we go to the diner or the coffee shop across from the courthouse, and I pay. It's understood there is no consultation fee as he is not obligated to be there. And of course we talk both business and pleasure.
