Where is the power for the hood mounted tach lamps drawn from? Are they to come on with the headlamps? The harness has a double connector to "splice in" somewhere, but it is not long enough to go all the way forward...

I recall something about the windshield washer return power but would that not have the tach lamps on all the time?

I wired mine into the dash lamps. Don't do that. Since that runs through the dimmer, there's not enough light to see it at night. So you might want full power to the bulb. Also, I believe at some point Pontiac wired it to be on all the time to cut down on fogging up the lens.

Dave, there should be an open spade post on the fuse block for this.

Thanks....I usually leave the dimmer all the way up anyhow...so will run it to the fuse block/spade terminal.

Dave, Like BOB said you should wire it to be on when ever the key is on. It helps keep moisture from the inside and keeps the face from foging up.

You can use the fuse box IGN terminal instead of the lamp terminal if you want the original look.

I put it on the lamp terminal last nite, I can always move it down one tab if there is a fogging issue...(we never have fog here on the wet coast )...and to prove it, here is a webcam shot from moments ago of the Burrard Bridge and harbour...

Mine goes to the windshield wiper motor. My decision, not stock.

David, I guess it you're driving in that it doesn't much matter if you can see your hood tach.

LOL, I suppose not....I nearly missed 2 exits on the way to the office this morning, it was so thick....one big temperature inversion the last few days...

The point is also to stop corosion from building up inside the tac from the moisture.

Thats right. Having the tach lights on at all driving times allows a little heat to build up, just enough to keep moisture from hurting the internals.

OK, works for me, I live in a reasonably humid environment. Done deal.

That's why a shot of scotch now and then helps, keeps MY internals nice n warm and corrosion free...
